YIKES!

Oh man! I am leaving TOMORROW! I have a 'to do list' that could be worked into a Tolstoy novel.

I woke up at 4am and was going over all the stuff I have to do. And then I was like "I can't just lie around in bed all day!!!!" AHHHHH! I won't be watching TV for a whole week!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!

What was I thinking?! WHo the Hell drives to NY??!? Why couldn't I just leave things well enough alone?

And then I looked over at the dogs snoring away and started laughing to myself. Poor Mick. He has no idea that his quality of life as he knows it is dramatically about to go downhill. HAHAHA! he thinks every time we get in the car, he's about a half hour away from a park/beach/pool. Wonder what he's gonna think of a 13 hr drive through Nebraska?!?

I don't know why I find that funny, but I am giggling even now. Maggie has lived the mean streets of New York already. She will be returning to her youth and all her best friends in the dog park. She's all cool and street smart. Mick Knows nothing but his cushy LA grass filled/pool filled life. He's looking at me now. He knows I'm typing about him. I still think it's funny.

This is probably why I don't have kids.

Anyhoo...I have to go buy some 'books on CD' for the drive. Any suggestions? I need something riveting. To keep me awake. Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat soundtrack only gets me to Vegas.

Here's the ONLY upside to a long roadtrip...GAS STATION FOOD!!!! The one and ONLY time it's acceptable to eat Doritos and HoHo's for lunch!! And Taco Bell for BREAKFAST!!! And I've heard SO much about cracker barrel...and I am SO THERE.

NOT looking forward to? Sneaking the dogs into no-tell motels. eeeeeewwww.

K, must go pack up. Be sure to leave me any road trip tricks you know. Are you excited for Blogs from Wyoming? Iowa?

Ohhhh yah.

You could probably listen to the entire Harry Potter series in Nebraska alone. I highly recommend Mountain Dew for any road trip. And breath mints for the dogs. ;o) And make sure that you stop at every truck stop/port of entry, pull out your yoga mat and go for it...just for the entertainment value. And bring your dogs by for a play date while you're in Utah. And.....

I will take you to cracker barrel - there is one by my house! When I (we) use to make the Cali trek all the time we used grapes - something about them helps you stay awake! You better download the book(s) I told you about or I am going to make you take my ipod and then you will have to make another stop on your way back (you are planning that anyway, right? rice crispies)! Can't wait to see you and I am actually pretty excited about your Wyoming and Iowa posts!

we actually did listen to the entire harry potter series on a road trip to wisconsin.
i recommend you stop at the wizard of oz museum in kansas, and the spam museum in minnesota (are you going through minnesota? probably not...)
and, of course, the omelette house in vegas.

I've already read all the harry potter's, but, uh thanks anyway.

Dede...I already AM downloading your books...btu I figure they can't last the WHOLE way.

And MEg...thanks for the uh support? At least you're honest!

And Rychelle..Minnesota? I'm not going to canada for God sakes! But that wizard of oz museum does sound intriguing.

Um, I am just wondering why you posted today. Shouldn't that post on ME have stayed at the top of your page for at least a week? Is there a perma-link that I am not seeing somewhere?

Also, do they have internet in the mid-west? I thought there was just a great big hole there and then the U.S. started again around South Carolina...no?

Excue me? The US resumes around NORTH Carolina, thank-you-very-much.

Recommendations?! Does it really matter?! Just shove anything in there so you don't start talking to yourself... or *hearing* imaginary voices...

Wow, Pee Wee, good luck! Watch out for crazy drivers and make sure you twitter about what you see! O yeah, to entertain yourself, count how many arrow signs you see pointing to a business on the side of the road. If you are not familiar, once you get toward the midwest, you will see them everywhere!

Don't know what you are coming to NY for, but I can tell you that your timing is perfect as spring is blooming a little late this year and eveything should be in full flower when you get here -provided you don't meet a cowboy and git hitched and wind up a montana farm girl before you can bite the big apple.

Best of luck with the formidable ride. I can recommend a book, but somehow, I doubt it's on tape - Candy Girl, My Life as an Unlikely Stripper by Diablo Cody. A good, fast read that will help you fall asleep amidst the deafening silence of the central states.

I am SO getting that! I LOVE that writer!
