Well well, not back in the city for 24 hrs and I managed to completely fall down the stairs at work today.
And by 'down the stairs' I mean
DOWN...
THE.....
STAIRS.
Do you know how that made me feel?
OLD.
That's how! When do you ever hear of a 20 yr old slipping on the stairs? yah. you don't. Unless it's from an old bitter curmudgeon like me who trips them accidentallyonpurpose for being too perky.
X-rays say I didn't break anything. But I never thought I did. I just slammed my ass into the stairs not once but twice. BOO! My butt hurts!! I also somehow twisted my foot and now have shooting pains from my back to my foot. I just hope this isn't one of those "ever since I fell on those stairs 12 yrs ago my back ain't never been the same" type of injuries.
Blah. Doctor says I have to take tylenol until the morning and IF I don't feel better I can get "something stronger." I am counting the hours down until he gets into the office in the morning.
Here's the other PLUS to this...at the xray guy's office he said "well! No broken bones! Must be muscular trauma..but you're young and healthy...you should be okay!" I practically gave myself whiplash flipping my head around when I heard "young!" YAY! Now THAT is a drug even better than Vicodin!! (haha...not really) And believe me, before I got too excited I checked the plaque on the door for "geriatric X-ray unit" and there wasn't one! YAY TWICE!
And now I'm all ready for being drugged up on the couch watching countless re-runs of "Tori & Dean: Home sweet Hollywood"
speaking of that...g2g.
(that's YOUNG people's street talk for 'got to go')(yah. I still got it.) (oooh, my hip pain!)

Maybe you need that "I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up" bracelet! Yay!
Rychelle will take care of you next week, while I stalk Kiefer Sutherland.
Congrats on the "young" thing. Ah yeah, a word that has not been used about me in many a mango season. Nothing I can do about that, 'cept maybe to count the days 'til my next social security check.
OMG! Did they offer to get you a Hoveround? I'm still hoping I get one out of knee deal. If you get one...we can go to the Grand Canyon, if you want.
(Seriously, hoping you're okay. Since I fell and fucked up my knee, slips and falls scare me.)
I hope you're okay! And you are young. And healthy. And pretty! Good luck with the vicodin. ;o)
You should really do yoga or something. I have heard that this helps with these types of injuries. Just a thought...
get well soon!!
Will you please for the love that of all that is good and pure...do a post while taking the "good meds". I can only imagine...
did you get an x-ray of your butt?
how come you didn't link this post to your last "fall down the stairs" post?? I hope they open early so you can enjoy your day with Tori! (I didn't know what
g2g meant!- thanks for keeping me young!)
The sad thing is dede, that I don't even remember another falling down the stairs post. sad. but true.
Oh, and if I don't get a hoveround or rascal or a lifealert device, I'm gonna be pissed. Thing is if I had ANY of those products I would ALWAYS use them. I would "fall and not get up" just to get someone to come walk the dogs......hmmmm...not a bad idea....
Uh, I fell down the stairs in my 20s. Once at work, once at home. And there was absolutely no alcohol or drugs involved. I'm just really, really clumsy. And it was so humiliating when it happened at work. Right next to the lunch room, during lunch, and everyone heard me thumping down the stairs and came running.
I fell down the stairs when I was 18, because I was rushing to the car. I was headed to the beach with friends. I basically came down wrong on one of the stairs and my toescurled under my foot, hyperextending my ankle and breaking all the blood vessels in the top of my foot. I didn't break anything, but it's totally one of those "my foot has never been the same" type injuries. Embarrassing.
I agree with Sara - you should try yoga. hee!
Oh no...I am older than you are...I can see what is in my future! Hopefully not today at the pool--while carrying EVERYTHING in my house and a kid too!
Now, if you broke your hip and needed a replacement, then you'd be old. But I'd say you're safe for now.
Man, I leave you alone for a week and look what happens to you...
At least you didn't break your tailbone. I did that. And I'm TOTALLY that woman. Ever since I fell down those stairs two years ago I've never been the same...
Now go get those good drugs!!
so much for my gossip girls NYC experience. this trip is turning into the golden girls do the big apple.
i refuse to change any bed pans.
ahh - I finally found it... http://yogabitch.blogspot.com/2008/10/ive-fallen-and-i-cant-get-up.html
you were right though - you didn't fall down the stairs - you fell up them! I think you are improving!
it was so fun to go down your blogs memory lane - the apple post - ha ha ha!!!
I fell down the stairs at work when I was pregnant! Ugh! Your post was so funny, I am such a sucker for ANY compliment at this stage in my life, ha ha ha!
HAHAH! Now I remember dede!! Sad. I fall up and down stairs and don't even remember it. I think I need to eat more veggies that improve memory. Or vitamins . or SOMEthing!
Ouch! Glad your sort of ok!!!
Oh my word! I hate it when I fall.
