(sundays, mondays, tomato, tomahto. When it's a 3 day weekend the lines become very blurred)
No No grandkiddies. Grammybitch isn't gonna tell you about how back in my day I had to walk 5 miles to school. Geez! I'm not THAT old!
We carpooled! And the only place you saw an SUV was in the army. Your great grammycrazybitch drove us around in a fancy STATION WAGON. And we rode around in the back trunk in a fold out bench seat with NO SEAT BELTS! Now don't get any ideas. The gov'mint makes you wear seat belts so little crazy brats like you don't run around like we did.
AND we didn't have any XYZ boxes or playspace stations either. We had ATARI. Well, WE didn't have Atari. GreatGrammyCrazyBitch had a fondness for the Cooking Sherry, if you know what I mean. So WE would mooch off the neighbor kids to play games of "tennis" like this...
Oh children, you don't KNOW how many booger eating rich kids I had to pretend to like in order to play that "tennis" game!

I can remember sitting in the back of the station wagon, climbing over each other, fighting to get closest to the window to smell the gas fumes as Dad filled it up! Scary. It explains a lot though.
I think it was mandatory for every family to have a station wagon.
On another note, Adam and I are watching Cops right now, and they pulled over a 16 year-old boy dressed as a girl, who is a prositute. It's awesome.
"Load up the Country Squire bitches!" "I call the backity-back!" Or at least that's the way it was in my house.
We had that exact wagon in your picture. Two of them actually. One band-aid beige with wood paneling and the other fire engine red with panels. My dad used to freak because we used to peel the artifical wood grain contact paper off those panels. Good times. Good times.
I lOOOVVVVED Pac Man and Pac Woman, Girl, whatever. Didn't own one but loved them dearly
I completely love these posts.
My family never had a station wagon. But we did have a Gremlin, and I loved riding in the back. Even though I'd basically have to lie down, because of the angle of the window.
ohhhh yah! Boy did we fight for that back "seat". We literally would hang out that back window.
but THE BEST was when we wouldn't open up the bench seat AND fold down the middle seat and my friends and I would roll around and do somersaults and stuff.
The good ole days! Safety what?
I always wanted my family to have one of those "cool" station wagons with the faux wood paneling. We had a big, honkin' van that my dad customized with this huge platform in the back. No seatbelts, of course. I can think of two occasions when he stopped fast and one of the kids shot to the front rather abruptly and got a bloody nose... those were the days...
Sitting in the back window, waving like mad at people, trying to get them to wave back...and being all excited when they did! Ah, such simpler times. Of course, there were also the times when we would flip people off through the back window...and mom & dad never knew!
my brother folded me into that "back seat" once. and left me there for like 30 minutes.
and......i was at a bbq/pool party this weekend and this kid asks me "do you remember that game, packman?" uh. yeah. "well, my grandma just found her old atari and let us play it. i had never even heard of that game before". HE HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THAT GAME BEFORE! man, i felt OLD.
Pong! That was great, part of that tennis game. We also had that station wagon, with the vinyl seats and NO air conditioning in California! I remember my legs would get all sweaty in the summer and then brother would have to nerve to reach over and poke me, hence throwing me over the edge with anger! Good times! Love these posts.:)
I think the general theme here is that brothers can be a real pain in the ass!
We bought an Atari Flashback recently, and can't believe how boring those games are. But, they were the "thing" back then, weren't they?
